Shepherd of the Hills Outdoor Theater and Play

So how did Branson become one of the premiere tourist destinations in the United States? How can a town with a population of 5,500 attract millions of visitors each and every year? Many give credit to Harold Bell Wright, who wrote the epic novel "The Shepherd of the Hills". Long before Branson had mucic shows, amusement parks, water rides, and lake cruises, visitors were coming to the Ozarks to see the beauty described in Harold Bell Wright's best selling book. Buy the Shepherd of the Hills book

The Shepherd of the Hills play
brings Harold B. Wright's classic novel to life! Over 80 actors/actresses, 40 horses, sheep, barnyard animals, gun fights, burning cabins, and more keep you on the edge of your seat during the entire performance. Drama, comedy, and suspense keep you enthralled during the show, and you will leave with a new found appreciation of the Ozarks and its rich history.

The adventure begins with a pre-show performance that will surely loosen everyone up with a few laughs before the play begins. The play is set outdoors in beautiful scenery that only the Ozarks can provide. During intermission the audience is allowed to step on to the set and join the cast members for a hoedown!! Its really quite enjoyable, and the cast really helps you believe that you stepped right into 1907!

The play concludes to a thrilling, and climactic ending that will leave you very surprised. I don't want to be a spoiler, but there is a plot twist that you don't see coming. The Shepherd of the Hills outdoor theater is a unique play that is well worth the price of admission. If you only have time on your vacation to see a few shows, then I'd strongly recommend that you consider enjoying an evening under the stars, taking a step back into time and watch a tale of love, hardship, loss, inspiration, family, and the true meaning of life. Best Places To Purchase Discounted Show Tickets in Branson

A vacation is meant to relax your mind, lift your spirit, spend memorable time with your family, and to just plain have fun! All too often however, much of your time is spent sitting in traffic, aligning everybody's schedules, hoping the show you would like to see isn't sold out, and trying to find a restaurant that doesn't have an hour long wait just to be seated! Proper planning can avoid all the hassles so your Branson vacation is memorable, fun, and stress free..

If you have been to Branson before, I am sure that you have seen signs all over town urging you to come in and receive tickets for discounted prices. Well, most of the time, that discount that your getting on the show tickets usually comes with a price.

The employees who work in the little booths and stores selling these "discounts" are called OPC's (I used to be one ;)). This stands for "Off Premises Canvassers". They get paid (usually commissions only!) to offer you discounted Branson show tickets (or free tickets) to attend a timeshare presentation that will usually take up about 3 hours out of your vacation. The OPC will also try to sell you vacation packages, but the catch is each OPC booth works for different companies, and each company sells tickets for different shows. They may not be able to sell you a vacation package that you want. Believe me, they will sure try though. Most OPC's don't get paid, unless you purchase one of their packages they have to offer and/or attend a timeshare presentation. The larger the vacation package you purchase the better..... for them!

You also have the option of purchasing your tickets straight from the theater. The drawback here is there is always the possibility of the show being sold out, or getting less than desirable seats because they were purchased so late. You also will pay retail price for the tickets.

The best places to purchase show tickets in Branson (and cheapest)is online through a booking agency. Here, you are able to make your own vacation package. What a concept! You can book the shows that YOU want well in advance of your vacation, increasing your chances of getting great seats to the show that YOU want to see! The booking agency I recommend offers the lowest rates (they guarantee it) that you will find online. You can book your hotel stay, order all of your show tickets, and purchase tickets to all of the other area attractions, such as silver dollar city, mini golf, the water parks, and much more. Order Your Branson Show Tickets, and Hotel stay online in real time.

Wouldn't it be nice to have your entire vacation organized, planned out, and hassle free from just a few minutes at the computer, or would you rather cross your fingers and hope that your favorite shows aren't sold out or that you aren't sitting in the far back corner of a theater behind some guy shining the stage spotlight? You will save quite a few dollars on discounts, save time making all of your arrangements, which gives you more time to enjoy your vacation. I hope these tips help your Branson vacation be as enjoyable as possible for you.

Liverpool Legends - The Beatles Experience In Branson

liverpool legends, beatles tribute band
I have seen quite a few "tribute" bands over the years in Branson, but the Liverpool Legends are the cream of the crop! The Beatles were a legendary band of monumental proportions. These group of guys take you back to a historic era in music. The Beatles changed the face of the music scene and the Liverpool Legends tribute band in Branson takes you back in time to relive all of their classic hits.

Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr are superbly represented by Kevin Mantegna (John), Davey Justice (Paul), Marty Scott (George), and Greg George (Ringo). The Liverpool Legends are even managed by George Harrison's real sister, Louise. The band members look strikingly similar to the real Beatles, and they have all their mannerisms down to an art form. At times it feel as if you stepped straight in to a time machine and are experiencing the Beatles at the peak of all their glory.

You will find yourself singing along to many of their classic hits such as "yellow submarine", "I want to hold your hand", "A hard days night", "Hey Jude", and many more. You will find yourself tapping your feet, smiling from ear to ear, laughing out loud, and maybe even wiping a tear away from your eye. This is truly the best representation of the original Beatles you will find.

The Liverpool Legends were voted Branson's "best show" and "best band" in Branson in 2006, and 2007.

I found it very interesting to see the age diversity in the audience. Fans of all ages were singing along to their songs and even kids were up dancing in the aisles. This just goes to show you how the Beatles music has transcended time and their music will live on for future generations.

If you only have time to see ONE show in Branson, I highly recommend that you consider the Liverpool Legends. It's a Beatles experience that will never be forgotten. The band covers all eras of the Beatles music. No lip synching. Real talent, real music, and a real good time! My Beatles review for the Liverpool Legends is an A++. Order Tickets to the Liverpool Legends - The Beatles Experience in Branson You can also order entire Branson vacation packages at discounted prices!

The Liverpool Legends Beatles tribute band is located at the Starlite Entertainment Theatre on 3115 W. Highway 76 (the main strip that goes through the center of Branson).

Celebration City Amusement Park in Branson

Celebration City is the place to go in Branson if you are a fan of thrilling amusement park rides, roller coasters, go karts, shopping, arcade gaming, and spending a beautiful day in the outdoors. Celebration City is relatively new to Branson, and is built by the owners of Silver Dollar City.

Celebration City has over 30 rides in all, including the brand new multi million dollar expansion ride called the "Roaring Falls" that is sure to be a hit.

Starting at 9:30 P.M. each night is a spectacular laser show set to music that is free to all. Pyro-goggles are available to enhance the dazzling effects of the laser light show and fireworks that are set off each night. The show really puts a highlight to an evening filled with thrilling rides, great food, and laughter from families of all ages.

Celebration City is located at the very beginning (or end) of the highway 76 strip. Be sure to get a Branson travel map, because there are alternative back road travel routes that will allow you to miss the large majority of traffic congestion that frequently occurs on highway 76 during "peak" times of the tourist season.

All in all, Celebration City is a nice, clean, and safe amusement park that I would recommend to all families, especially if you have children.

Branson Veterans Memorial Museum

Branson is well known for honoring war veterans and paying respect to all of our vets who have served in the Armed Forces. The large majority of the shows in Branson dedicate a portion of their show with patriotic tributes, and often take some time to recognize all of the veterans in the audience. Branson is a family oriented tourist destination that recognizes the fact that all of the freedoms that we all enjoy can be directly tributed to the sacrifices that have been made by all of our veterans.

The Veterans Memorial Museum in Branson is one of the most comprehensive and educational war museums in the country. All too often many of us get lost in our everyday lives and may tend to take many of our liberties for granted. The Veterans Memorial museum is a somber reminder of all the blood, tears, and loved ones lost to give us those very same liberties that we enjoy everyday of our lives.

Ten halls of the museum highlighting all of the wars, battles, and military conflicts that America has faced are brilliantly featured in dramatic fashion. Over 2000 artifacts featuring WWI, WW2, Korea, Vietnam, and all of the recent military conflicts up to date. Buy Branson's Veteran Memorial Museum Tickets

The most memorable exhibit is the worlds largest war memorial sculpture. Over 15 tons in weight, this bronze sculpture features 50 life size American soldiers (of each of the 50 states.... the kansas soldier is Bob Dole) storming a beach. It says that each soldier in the sculpture is based on a real life soldier in action. Make sure you bring your camera, because you will be disappointed if you can't capture this breathtaking and emotionally moving sculpture.

Murals, war time artifacts, posters, letters, personal stories, video, and authentic memorabilia really stir up the emotions inside your heart and fills you with pride to be an American. Many people spend hours reminiscing, remembering, and learning about all the battles, wars, campaigns, and conflicts America has encountered. While many leave with a tear in their eye, their hearts are lifted and their pride empowered with rekindled patriotism and respect for our troops.

The names of over 400,000 soldiers who have been killed in combat are displayed on the walls of the museum. This is the only museum that has all the fallen soldiers names listed from every war, conflict, and battle that America has faced. Truly a humbling, moving, and eye opening reminder to see the actual names of nearly a 1/2 of a million soldiers who have died in combat. All of these soldiers had loved ones, families, and friends who loved them dearly.

The Branson Veterans museum is only a few years old and is surprisingly not overly crowded. The museum is located on highway 76 which runs through the heart of Branson. Ticket prices are quite cheap for the entire family.

Adult (18+ yrs): 12.50
Veterans & Active Military (18+ yrs): $11.50
Teen (13-17 yrs): $10.00
Child (6-12 yrs): $5.00
Child (0-5 yrs): FREE

Baldknobbers Jamboree Country Music Show

Long before Branson became known as the number one live entertainment capital of the world, 4 brothers began entertaining folks on the Branson lake front. The Mabe brothers were the founding members of the Balknobbers Jamboree Show in 1959, and became Branson's first country music show.

Over the next 5 decades Branson has sprung to life, with hotels, amusement parks, a countless number of music theaters, and even an international airport currently under construction. One show remains the same and is still the original "grass roots" music show in town. Come out and see the show that started it all!

Country music, hillbilly comedy, gospel, and a splash of good old fashioned American Patriosm will keep families of all ages tappin their toes, singing along, and howling with laughter. When you think of Branson, the Baldknobbers Jamboree show is where it all began. Today people from all around the globe decide to vacation in Branson. Very few leave disappointed, and the vast majority keep coming back year after year.

What makes Branson so special, is the fact that you can bring families of all ages for a "clean" enjoyable family experience. The Baldknobbers delivers high energy country music, clean comedy, and even a few heartfelt moments. If I could think of just one word to describe what the Baldknobbers Jamboree show is all about it would be..... FUN.... The Baldknobbers Jamboree is located midway down the legendary highway 76 strip that stretches through the heart of Branson.

Branson Scenic Railway Train Ride

Branson is full of attractions, amusement parks, museums, music shows and more. You can spend your entire vacation without leaving the the infamous highway 76 strip. What often goes unnoticed however is the surrounding beauty of the Ozarks. Consider taking a ride on the Branson Scenic Railway. The train ride is a 40 mile round trip that goes over bridges through two long tunnels and winds through the beautiful Ozark hills. You learn a lot of history about the area, and the storyline about the railroad.

Dinner is served while you enjoy a romantic train ride from southwest Missouri that brings you all the way down into Northern Arkansas. Keep your eyes open for the wildlife, and enjoy some of the old communities that are rich in history. Some of the towns are old and run down but you get a glimpse at what life might have been like 100 years ago in the area.

A historian of the area keeps you informed of the historic sites and you even drive by one of the caves where Jesse James used as one of his hideouts.

If you have children, and would like to take them on an educational train ride, than the Branson Scenic Railway train ride might be an option you may want to consider. One of the few complaints I have is that you have to wait outside to board the train and if you have a high ticket number the wait can be tiresome.

All in all, the Branson Scenic Railway is an interesting, relaxing, and rewarding way for your family to spend a couple of hours out of your day while vacationing in Branson, Missouri.
